He has 30 years of experience working with defense/aerospace companies on Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA projects, specifically in the area of technology commercialization. Dr. Huey's areas of expertise are communications, networking, electronics, and power systems (fuel cells, batteries, energy generation and storage). Previously, Henry was a Director, Systems Engineering at an optical networking startup, Alidian Networks that raised over $95 million from Accel, Redpoint Ventures, Worldview and others.
Highlights of Henry’s experience with DoD contractor firms are as follows:
-
Loral/Lockheed Martin Western Development Labs - Chief Engineer in telecommunications, led commercialization developments in broadband satcom, high speed networking, and management of networks.
-
TRW Electronic Systems Group – Senior Engineer, worked on wireless, switching and satcom processing payload technologies and programs for NASA and DoD. Led the integration development and operational deployment of the Air Force CSOC (consolidated space operations center) ground telecommunications system. Developed high speed switching solutions that were commercialized and deployed in the Sprint broadband networks.
-
Hughes Aircraft Ground Systems – Senior Engineer, worked on advanced anti-jam, networking radio technology, specifically Air Force and Navy JTIDS and Army e-PLRS radio systems. Developed key error correcting code technology used in many radio programs, including JTIDS. Worked on DoD VHSIC integrated circuit technology program.
-
IBM Federal Systems – Systems Engineer, worked on prototyping Air Force spread spectrum radio technology specifically error coding, signal acquisition and correlation and integrated radio architectures. Air Force JTIDS expendable radio prototypes were developed and delivered.
-
Henry graduated from the University of Southern California with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
Henry enjoys short bike rides (say 30-50 miles), grows all sorts of healthy food in his organic garden and can occasionally be found whacking golf balls all over the place; sometimes all on the same day.
